Stakeholders

The Amarillo Regional ITS Architecture represents the consensus input of a diverse set of stakeholders, encompassing traffic, transit, public safety, and many other operating agencies at local, county, state, and national levels.  It includes both public and private sectors and spans the organizations that manage, support, or are impacted by the surface transportation system in the Amarillo Region.

Amarillo Convention and Visitors Bureau Provides scheduling and support for conferences, tours, and events throughout Amarillo
Amtrak Passenger rail service
City of Amarillo City of Amarillo offices and departments, including Traffic Engineering, Emergency Management, Planning, Transit, Police and Fire
Commercial Vehicle Operators Private commercial vehicle operators
County Road and Bridge County agencies responsible for maintaining county roads and bridges in the Amarillo Region
DPS Texas Department of Public Safety
DPS Division of Emergency Management Mitigation and response for natural and man-made disasters and emergencies
Independent School Districts Includes public schools districts throughout the Amarillo Region.
Local Ambulance Services Ambulance services (ground and air) operated by Panhandle Emergency Medical Services Systems and other providers
Local City/County Public Safety Agency Local city or county agencies responsible for emergency coordination.
Local Law Enforcement County Sheriff and municipal Police throughout the Region
Local Media Includes both print (newspaper) and broadcast (TV, radio) news media
Local Venue Promoters Includes a variety of venues, such as Amarillo Civic Center, Tri-State Fairgrounds, Dalhart Rodeo, and others.
NM and OK Public Safety Agencies Includes Highway Patrol, State Police and other public safety agencies. Focus is along I-40 corridor.
NOAA National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (National Weather Service)
NW Texas Healthcare System Northwest Texas Healthcare System - coordinates with Panhandle Emergency Medical Services Systems
Other State DOTs For the Amarillo Region, primarily NM and OK. There is also a need to coordinate with AZ, CO, UT, NE on common corridors.
Other TxDOT Districts For the Amarillo Region, primarily Childress, Lubbock, Wichita Falls, and Abilene
Panhandle Transit A unit of Panhandle Community Services; provides paratransit and specialized transportation services throughout the Region
Pantex BWXT Pantex Plant, a division under the Department of Energy
Private Carriers Represents private companies with fleets of vehicles (e.g. UPS, Fedex).
Private ISPs Local, regional and national information service providers that provide travel information, including Internet sites, service bureaus, etc. Could include local media (print, TV, radio) providing websites with traveler information.
Private Maintenance Providers Private companies that are contracted to provide maintenance on state/public roads
Private Mayday Providers Operate private emergency notification systems such as OnStar, ATX, and LoJack.
Private Meteorological Service Provider Private companies that provide customized weather products.
Private Tow/Wrecker Private towing companies
Private Travelers Traveling public accessing various modes of transportation, including surface street, air, rail/transit, and non-motorized
Private Vehicle Owners Private individuals who own vehicles (with or without on-board automated systems such as Mayday).
Railroad Operators Operate national or regional rail systems, including passenger and freight
Regional Hospitals Hospital/trauma centers in the Region (e.g.NW Texas and Baptist St. Anthony's).
Telcos Telecommunications providers (wireless and landline)
Texas Department of Criminal Justice Coordinates prison operations.
TxDOT Texas Department of Transportation.
TxDOT Motor Carrier Division Motor Carrier Division, responsible for carrier permitting and routing information
TxDOT Transportation Planning and Programming Division The TxDOT Transportation Planning and Programming Division coordinates research, administers planning funds and collects data on the highway system.
