The scope for the State of Qatar ITS Architecture can be described in terms of: 1) the size of the region and jurisdictions covered (geographic scope), 2) the planning or time horizon, and 3) the variety of transportation services that are covered.

Geographic Scope

The State of Qatar is the primary region covered. In addition, any connections between ITS elements inside the State of Qatar with ITS elements outside the State of Qatar, especially the interfaces themselves, are also included (e.g. in support of border operations for commercial vehicle operations with Saudi Arabia or in support of the Qatar Bahrain Causeway or Friendship Bridge).

Planning / Time Horizon

Current ITS investments and investments planned or to be planned over the next 10 to 15 years.

Service Scope

All ITS services involving surface transportation of people or freight on or related to roadways with regard to improving safety and/or efficiency.
