The scope for the New York City Sub-regional ITS Architecture can be described in terms of: 1) the size of the region and jurisdictions covered (geographic scope), 2) the planning or time horizon, and 3) the variety of transportation services that are covered.
Geographic ScopeThe five boroughs of New York City is the primary region covered. In addition, any connections between ITS elements inside the New York City sub-region with ITS elements outside the sub-region, especially the interfaces themselves, are also included.
Planning / Time HorizonCurrent ITS investments and investments planned or to be planned over the next 10 to 15 years.
Service ScopeAll ITS services involving surface transportation of people or freight on or related to roadways with regard to improving safety and/or efficiency.
