Equipment Package: ISP Emergency Traveler Information
Description:
This equipment package collects and provides emergency information to the public, including wide-area alerts and evacuation information. Building on functionality included in other ISP equipment packages, this equipment package provides emergency alerts, information on evacuation zones and evacuation requirements, evacuation destinations and shelter information, available transportation modes, and traffic and road conditions at the origin, destination, and along the evacuation routes. In addition to general evacuation information, personalized information including tailored evacuation routes, service information, and estimated travel times is also provided based on traveler specified origin, destination, and route parameters. Updated information is provided throughout the evacuation and subsequent reentry as status changes and plans are adapted.

Functional Requirements

The center shall collect and provide to the traveler interface systems emergency evacuation information, including evacuation zones, shelter information, available transportation modes, road closures and detours, changes to transit services, and traffic and road conditions at the origin, destination, and along the evacuation routes. 2 -
The center shall provide evacuation information to shelter providers. 3 -
The center shall collect and provide wide-area alert information to the traveler interface system with region-specific data, including major emergencies such as a natural or man-made disaster, civil emergency, child abductions, severe weather watches and warnings, military activities, and law enforcement warnings. 4 -
The center shall provide the capability for a system operator to control the type and update frequency of emergency and wide-area alert information distributed to travelers.
