CSX, NS and FEC Wayside Equipment

Description:

The Jacksonville area is served by three major railroads: CSX Corporation and its subsidiary CSX Intermodal; Norfolk Southern Corporation and its RoadRailer subsidiary Triple Crown Services, Inc.; and the Florida East Coast Railway. CSX and NS have merged their operations. JaxPort also operates a Shortline Railroad that connects the marine ports to the heavy rail systems. These rail carriers offer 34 dedicated trains a day to and from the study area, more than any other South Atlantic port. Containers and trailers can be on their way to major consumer markets within hours after arrival in the study area.
